CASUAL OUTDOORS BAG 

This I made for my family. Actually the inspiration for the bag came from a….. shoe bag ! ! ! ! I had bought a pair of shoes which were delivered to me in a cloth bag of this design. So the thought was to make a similar bag with strong leather. A bag that would be able to hold some weight and look nice and bright and lively and peppy but also classy, if possible.

I chose a bright, lively, eye-catching yellow for the main body of the bag. The handle is made of traditional brown leather to add a touch of class. The bag should look lovely but not frivolous. Fun… with a dash of purpose. And be truly useful.

It is sized to hold two half litre bottles of water or any other liquid (!). Not for me as I do not have any other !! drinks !.  But it’s a nice idea I thought. 

The beauty of the bag is its single handle. It is stitched on one side and passes through a small cut on the other side and holds the bag firmly in your grip. Also, to give very firm strength I have inserted a small piece of polyester where the stress is going to be maximum. This is done so that the leather does not stretch when taking the weight in the bag. There is a piece of polyester inside the cut through which the handle passes and another piece is sandwiched between the two leathers where the handle is sewn. On both sides of the handle. This will take the weight, yet it will not stretch the leather where the weight is going to cause maximum stress. 

Leather + these small polyester pieces make this bag a bag for at least two generations. Two generations of The Great Outdoors. . . . .

Its a simple, easy to carry and hold pouch/purse. Designed to comfortably contain an iPhone 6+ or similar sized gadget and some other stuff. Perhaps a few papers, bills etc. The daily stuff actually. It is built strongly enough to last a few decades though.

The colours are quite striking, yet not bold. Enough to attract attention.

It was while walking through the mall that I was struck by a handbag carried by a person. But I thought it looked a bit too strong to the eye. That however provided inspiration to make this purse. It is, of course, much smaller in size so it does not become garish, but might actually be a bit pleasant to the eye. Can be carried around without becoming an eyesore.

Product Description:

USES: I have made the pouch to easily carry an iPhone 6+. But you could use it to carry daily essentials, or make up essentials, or money. Or carry it elegantly for an evening out on town, or to go shopping. Almost any purpose.

CONCEPT: The idea behind the pouch/purse is to own something that is simple-to-use. Elegant, yet bold. I also wanted it to be eye-catching. So I have used a strong (but not too strong) shade of orange and enhanced it with a dash of, what else ….. black! The job of the purse is to attract the first attention. To itself. Then to its owner. Finally, it is the owner who must get the complete attention and admiration.

MATERIALS: Leather. Real leather. No artificial stuff. Tough and durable nylon thread for stitching. Super strong leather glue.

MAKING: Hand crafted, hand stitched (one-stitch-at-a-time). Each (!) stitch receiving full attention.

STRUCTURE AND BUILD: Being super durable, I have not used snaps or chains that can break and make the purse unusable at some point in the future. Leather is used to close leather. The black closer strap wraps itself fully around the purse. The strip at the front holds it closed, but another strip is provided at the back to complete the closing action.

BRAND MARK: A small Black Dash is stitched on the front of the purse. This is my brand mark. I like to call it the “Zen-dash”.

FINALLY: I expect this purse to be very durable. Use it. Even abuse it (lovingly, of course). It will last your lifetime. And then some more. Pass it on to those who you love. ENJOY ! ! ! ! !

ELEGANT LEATHER CLUTCH

CLASSY AND ELEGANT LEATHER CLUTCH

 

Nice clutch I think.  

The concept was to create something that will look simple but very elegant. It would reflect true qualities of leather (especially aging), yet should look classy in a city set up. Something would grant presence to the owner and a sense of self assurance and confidence.

Given the thought process, using colours was more or less out the window. It had to be minimalist. Have some colour, but not emphasize it. Must have decent size to mark its presence. Not too small. That would look diffident. Not too big. That would look garish.

All these thoughts led to the creation of this clutch. 

Have chosen natural shade leather of stiff quality. That would agree with the aging part of the concept and the stiff leather would also grant a sense of personality to the creation. The red strap used for closing is broad enough to not only do its job well, but also to enable a sense of understated oomph. The clutch could not be allowed to look bland. Ten years later, it should still attract attention.

The V shape of the clutch adds a touch of difference and class to the overall choice of materials and colours. This was a very satisfying creation that would do proud to the owner. 

Its going to be around 50 years later too. Wishing it a great life!
